Admission requirements

The requirements for access to this degree are those generally established in Royal Decree 822/2021, in the wording given in its article 18. Likewise, those established in the Regulations for Pre-registration and Admission to university master’s degree studies at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) are also applicable.

General requirements for admission to a Master’s Degree at the UPV

Students who meet the access requirements may be admitted to a master’s degree in accordance with the specific requirements and merit assessment criteria established by each university master’s degree in accordance with section 5 of article 18 of the aforementioned Royal Decree 822/2021. The requirements and evaluation criteria for this university master’s degree have been defined in accordance with the provisions of article 5.2 of the UPV’s own regulations on Pre-registration and Admission to university master’s degree studies in order to guarantee equal opportunities of access to education for students who meet the conditions of access.

These criteria are transparent and objective and allow the selection, from among the students who apply, of the most qualified students on the basis of their records and merits and under conditions of comparability of these records and merits. Admission to this master’s degree will not imply, in any case, any modification of the academic and, where appropriate, professional effects corresponding to the previous degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of pursuing a master’s degree.

Specific requirements for admission to the Master’s Degree

The Academic Committee of the Degree is the competent body to establish the evaluation criteria to be applied in order to establish the order of priority in the allocation of places, according to the regulations of Pre-registration and Admission to university master’s degree studies at the UPV and following the guidelines issued by the Vice-Rector’s Office responsible for student affairs. The composition of the Academic Committee of the Degree is regulated in article 4.2 of the Regulations of the Academic Regime and Student Evaluation. These regulations are available at: Regulations on Academic Regime and Student Evaluation

Access grades

In order to be admitted to this master’s degree, the student must be a graduate of the degrees to which it is preferentially addressed: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering, Degree in Aerospace Engineering and Degree in Civil Engineering. It is considered that these degrees have provided the necessary fundamentals in the areas of materials science, strength and elasticity of materials, manufacturing technologies, numerical methods, kinematics and dynamics of machines, and machine design. Other degrees with similar training to the above, but with less content in the field of mechanical engineering, may be considered for access weighted by an affinity coefficient, according to the criteria defined in each case by the Academic Committee.

Training complements or admission without complements

For admission to this master’s degree, students who meet the general admission requirements and the specific admission requirements are not required to take additional courses.

Admission for disabled students

For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.

The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.

The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

General information on access can be found in the Alumni Service – Access

Special entrance examinations or special admission criteria

Language requirement

Spanish will be used as the vehicular language for the training process of the degree. Those coming from countries where Spanish is not the official language must accredit a sufficient level of Spanish. Specifically, it will be necessary to accredit a B2 level of Spanish, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, by means of any of the official certificates recognized by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) or by the Association of Language Centers in Higher Education (ACLES). It may be considered for these purposes to have completed an official university degree in a country whose official language is Spanish. An alternative form of accreditation may also include a personal interview conducted by the Master’s Academic Committee to verify linguistic competence.

Scholarships

Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.

General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.

For the awarding of the scholarship it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption from the payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.
