Access requirements
The Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering is the reference degree for access to this master’s degree. Other degrees that accredit the competencies associated with technical engineering in computer science will also have direct access to the master’s degree, according to the ministerial order published in the BOE of August 4, 2009.
Complements or admission without complements to the master’s program
For admission to this master’s degree, students who meet the general admission requirements and the specific admission requirements are not required to take additional courses.
Language requirement
Foreign students coming from countries where Spanish is not an official language must accredit their level of Spanish through official qualifications, accrediting the degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language. Specifically, it will be necessary to have a diploma that accredits level B2 of Spanish DELE or certificates of equivalent level recognized by the Association of Language Centers in Higher Education (ACLES) of the Spanish language.
Admission for disabled students
The UPV will reserve at least 5 percent of the places offered in official university master’s degrees for students with a recognized disability level equal to or greater than 33 percent, as well as for students with permanent educational support needs associated with personal disability circumstances, who in their previous studies have required resources and support for their full educational inclusion. In the latter case, the UPV Disability Student Support Service (CEDAT Foundation) will be responsible for assessing each case and issuing the relevant report on whether pre-registration for a UPV master’s degree should be granted within this reserved quota of places. For these purposes, the interested party must provide the aforementioned Service with the information and supporting documentation required for the assessment of their application. The ordering and allocation of places within each quota is based on the admission score.
For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.
The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.
The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

Admission criteria
Applications for admission to the Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering that meet the conditions of access indicated above will be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the Master’s Degree in accordance with the merit assessment and selection criteria described below:
A. Academic record
The evaluation of the transcript will be expressed in a score on a scale of 0 to 10 and will be obtained from the average grade of the transcript of the Degree with which the applicant accesses the Master, in accordance with the provisions of article 5.3 of Royal Decree 1125/2003, which establishes the European credit system and the system of qualifications in university degrees of an official nature and valid throughout the national territory. For the purposes of obtaining the above-mentioned average grade, credits recognized without a grade are not counted. In order to make the grades of different Universities, Centers, Degrees and promotions comparable, the average grade of each file will be standardized according to the conditions regulated by the UPV.
In the case of records qualified in scales other than those indicated in RD 1125/2003, the interested party will be required to provide a statement of equivalence of average grades of university studies carried out in foreign centers obtained from the Ministry responsible for Universities. Those who do not provide this document will be assigned a 5 as the average grade point average.
Relative weight: 40%.
B. Correspondence of the competencies of the access degree with those of the Reference Degree.
The adequacy of the contents of the academic curriculum of the Bachelor’s Degree with which the applicant accesses the Master’s Degree to the competencies acquired in the Reference Degree will be assessed. This assessment will be carried out by the Academic Committee of the Master’s Degree. The evaluation will be expressed in a score on a scale of 0 to 10.
Relative weight: 60%.
All applications received will be ranked according to the weighted score obtained. As many applicants will be admitted as places are offered, in strict order of priority after their weighted score, giving priority in enrollment to graduates over those who have not yet completed the access degree at the time of admission, and provided that the minimum score obtained in the assessment is 5 out of 10 points. In the event of resignations, and provided that there are applications on the waiting list, vacancies will be filled until the number of places available or until the waiting list is exhausted, following the order of priority established above.
Special entrance examinations or special admission criteria
Given that teaching is conducted in Spanish, and in order to ensure that students are able to follow all training activities, students from non-Spanish-speaking countries will be required to have a level equivalent to B2 in Spanish, certified by any of the organizations recognized by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) or by the Association of Language Centers in Higher Education (ACLES) and which must be verified and validated in the accreditation issued by the UNED. Students who have studied in educational systems that use Spanish as a vehicular language will be exempt from this accreditation.
Quotas for seat reservations
The UPV will reserve at least 5 percent of the places offered in official university Master’s degrees for students with a recognized degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, as well as for students with permanent educational support needs associated with personal circumstances of disability, who in their previous studies have required resources and support for their full educational inclusion.
In the latter case, the UPV’s Service for Students with Disabilities (CEDAT Foundation) will be responsible for assessing each case in order to issue the relevant report on the appropriateness of formalizing pre-registration for a UPV master’s degree for this quota of reserved places. For this purpose, the interested party will provide the above mentioned Service with the information and supporting documentation required for the assessment of his/her application.
Places within each quota are ordered and allocated on the basis of the admission grade.
Scholarships
Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.
General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.
For the awarding of the scholarship it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption from the payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.
The Universitat Politècnica de València offers various scholarships or grants such as social action grants, canteen grants or collaboration training grants. There are also grants for sportsmen and women.

Pre-registration process
Pre-registration is the procedure used to order all the applications received by each university master’s degree, according to the access requirements that have been established and the evaluation of the merits presented by each applicant.
