On October 22, 2026, students in the Master’s program in Innovation in the Habitat (muHab) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia enjoyed a wonderful session with Matxalen Acasuso, Paz Martín, and Sacramento Pinazo as part of the Social Sustainability I course.
Matxalen Acasuso and Paz Martín, architects at habitatTU and coordinators of the “New Ways of Living” working group within the 2030 Observatory from the CSCAE shared their research on changing lifestyles, household diversity, and the need to rethink communal spaces from the perspective of people’s daily lives and needs. They also enjoyed a talk by Sacramento Pinazo, a professor of social psychology at the University of Valencia and director of the research group BestAging, whose work focuses on aging, care, and intergenerational relationships. Her contribution brought an interdisciplinary perspective to the discussion.
Following the lecture, they held an interactive workshop with the students, sparking conversations and reflections on housing, care, time, and the many ways in which people live and share spaces.
Our sincerest thanks to Matxalen, Paz, and Sacramento for their generosity, enthusiasm, and the time they devoted to the students. And thank you to all the students for their active participation, curiosity, and contributions, and to Eva Álvarez and Carlos Gómez for organizing the event.
This activity is part of the master’s program’s educational activities focused on experiential learning and is aligned with the UPV SIRVE Strategic Plan, promoting connections between universities, professionals, and society, as well as raising awareness of new strategies to address contemporary housing needs
