Begoña Serrano, responsible for the subject of Industrialization, organized a session on May 6 to present two Master’s Theses, written by María Mercedes Reinoso and José Romeroboth, both graded with outstanding results. This session has been specifically aimed at students who have to take the Master’s Thesis course, offering them a clear and close view of what this academic process involves, which will be complemented by a presentation session of the TFM Laboratory, whose responsible is Raul Castellanos.
During their presentations, the students explained what a TFM consists of, how it is structured, and how its defense is carried out, providing a practical perspective based on their own experience. They have also responded to various concerns raised by their peers, especially regarding the future development of this work, helping reduce uncertainties and guide students at this stage.
The session also provided first-hand knowledge of the length and depth required for a TFM, as well as the thematic diversity it can address. In this sense, one of the works focused on the over-elevation of buildings as a strategy to address severe housing shortages with special attention to the city of Quito, Ecuador. The other work has addressed the characterization of vernacular architecture in Equatorial Guinea. The company has a particularly respectful approach to the relationship with the communities, based on dialogue, trust, and a social approach to research.
Overall, it has been a very enriching session which has enabled the students to better understand both the technical and human aspects involved in the elaboration of a Master’s Thesis
