Inhabiting Spain offers a journey through some of the most important housing projects in the country in the last fifty years (1975-2025), which reflect the challenge of designing our own buildings that are also buildings for others. The exhibition is divided into five sections, each dedicated to a decade, in which different socioeconomic, political and environmental contexts are manifested.
Built works and unrealized projects are included to offer a look at the ideals of Spanish domestic architecture, the influence of which extends from local lifestyles to the international architectural sphere. The decision to show models – 85 have been brought together – responds to the objective of highlighting their usefulness as a synthesis tool with physical qualities. Through this collective landscape of machines we can appreciate their documentary value and the numerous clues they offer about the working processes in architecture. The exhibition also includes a selection of housing projects that lack models but are essential to complete this retrospective view of the last 25 years of the 20th century and the first 25 of the 21st century, seen through 100 residential projects.
