Description of the title

The Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage is an official degree of the Universitat Politècnica de València, designed to train highly qualified professionals in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.

This master’s degree focuses on providing students with the necessary skills to research, conserve and restore different types of cultural property, including paintings, sculptures, textiles and graphic documentation.

Through theoretical and practical training, students will develop technical skills, as well as a deep understanding of the historical, artistic and aesthetic context of the works. Graduates will be able to work in museums, cultural institutions, as well as in heritage research and conservation projects.

Objectives of the degree

  • Spanish and/or foreign graduates in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.
  • Spanish and/or foreign graduates in Fine Arts with a major in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage or other university degrees with a specialization in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.
  • Spanish and/or foreign graduates with degrees or other degrees related to the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, who can access this Master’s Degree and that the Academic Committee of the Master’s Degree admits for their curriculum vitae.

Internships

During the Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, students have the opportunity to carry out external internships in various institutions and companies related to cultural heritage. These internships allow students to apply the knowledge acquired in a real professional environment, facilitating their training and bringing them closer to the reality of the field of conservation and restoration. Master’s Thesis

To obtain the title of Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, you must defend a Master’s Thesis (TFM). This work must integrate the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired throughout the master’s degree, reflecting the ability to address a research topic in the field of conservation and restoration.

The TFM can adopt different approaches, such as case studies, technical research, restoration projects or critical analysis of heritage interventions. The defense of the TFM will be carried out before a tribunal, where both the quality of the work presented and the student’s ability to argue and justify their methodological and technical choices will be evaluated.
