Degree description
The Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Technologies provides advanced and multidisciplinary training in the fundamentals, techniques and applications of artificial intelligence. The curriculum integrates theoretical and practical subjects ranging from machine learning, deep learning and computer vision, to cloud computing, multi-agent systems, virtual and augmented reality, computational linguistics, data visualisation and natural computing inspired by biological processes.
Through these subjects, the programme equips students with solid knowledge in algorithms, hardware and software architectures, optimisation techniques and innovative methodologies for solving complex problems across multiple domains. In addition, it includes cross-cutting training courses in engineering ethics, scientific writing, languages (English and Spanish) and communication skills, ensuring a comprehensive professional profile.
The degree combines teaching delivered by faculty from the Universitat Politècnica de València and from Beihang University, ranked 28th in the Shanghai Ranking in computer science& technology in 2025, which guarantees an international and excellence-oriented approach. The programme is developed with a clear practical orientation, through laboratories, projects and a master’s thesis in which research and innovation competences are integrated.
The curricular design fosters the acquisition of high-demand professional competences, training specialists capable of undertaking AI projects in fields such as healthcare, industry 4.0, process automation and digital communication. In this way, the master’s programme prepares its graduates to lead the development of intelligent solutions that transform strategic sectors, with an ethical, global and sustainable vision.
Degree objectives
The Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Technologies aims to provide comprehensive and advanced training in the field of artificial intelligence, oriented towards creating professionals capable of leading digital transformation across multiple sectors. The programme offers a balance between theoretical foundations, practical competences and applied experiences, enabling students to acquire in-depth mastery of the most relevant AI technologies and their applications.

Graduates of this master’s programme will develop skills to design, implement and evaluate intelligent systems in key areas such as machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, multi-agent systems and big data analytics. Through a practical approach based on real-world projects and challenges, students will learn to apply innovative solutions in business, industrial, social and research environments, fostering creativity and the ability to solve complex problems.

The programme also promotes the development of cross-cutting competences, such as critical thinking, effective communication, professional ethics and teamwork in multidisciplinary groups, all of which are essential in a global context where AI must be developed and applied responsibly. Likewise, the importance of research and innovation is emphasised, preparing students to generate new knowledge, contribute to the evolution of the discipline and anticipate emerging technological challenges.
Career opportunities
The Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Technologies is aimed at training highly specialised professionals capable of leading the design, development and application of artificial intelligence solutions in strategic sectors of the economy and society. The programme combines a solid theoretical foundation with a practical approach, providing students with advanced competences to face current technological challenges and anticipate future ones.
These profiles have been defined in coordination with industry experts and the scientific community, ensuring that the training provided is rigorous, up-to-date and relevant. The combination of advanced technical competences and cross-cutting skills will enable graduates to adapt to a constantly evolving global labour market and contribute to the technological and social development driven by artificial intelligence.

Academic exchange / agreements with other universities
This degree will be taught at Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute (BVPI), a centre owned by the Universitat Politècnica de València located abroad at Hangzhou International Campus, Zhejiang Province, People’s Republic of China.
Agreements will be established between UPV (Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute, BVPI) and Beihang University (BUAA) in order to obtain a double degree.
These agreements will establish the framework for collaboration between UPV (Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute, BVPI) and Beihang University, BUAA to set the conditions that students from these institutions must meet in order to obtain the academic degrees of Master’s in Artificial Intelligence Technologies and the degree of Master in Electronic and Information Engineering in Artificial Intelligence.
Master’s Thesis
The Master’s Thesis represents the final stage of the student’s training. It is a multidisciplinary work related to the subjects studied during the degree programme. In the preamble of the UPV framework regulations, which govern all phases of the process, the TFM is defined as “an autonomous activity of the student with the support of one or more supervisors where the final result must always be an individual work by the student, defended before a panel.” It is, therefore, an original exercise to be carried out individually and presented and defended before a university panel.
The main objective of a master’s thesis is to demonstrate the competences acquired during the master’s training. Given its integrative nature, the theoretical and practical training acquired by the student will conclude with the preparation and defence of this final degree project, which will contribute to completing the development of all the competences established for the degree.
