Use of Drones in Research

Use of Drones in Research

In the last few years we have been observing the great development of the unmanned aircraft which we call drones as well as the applications derived from its use. The scientific community has not remained on the sidelines of this fact, but it has been more quickly the driving force behind real progress. Our University, a leader in the use of the latest technologies to keep its research at the limits of knowledge, has not been left behind, and there are many research and training structures that use and develop this relatively new technology.

For this reason, the UPV has elaborated a set of regulations promoted by the Vicerectorat d’Investigació, that regulates the use of unmanned remotely piloted aircraft.

Regulations

In addition, it has established a committee to support all research personnel interested in becoming an “air operator” and thus be able to use this type of equipment safely.

Any questions arising from the use of drones in the investigation should be referred, in the first instance, to the Commission by e-mail to cosidant@upv.es.
