In this year’s festival we continue to propose some of the most interesting projects that have recently emerged in the field of our jazz, at the same time that we give opportunities to emerging artists in an increasingly plural and diverse scene.
As a novelty, the festival will have a band formed entirely by students belonging to the campus of Berklee in Valencia. This time it is the band En Taro Adun (day 6 Valencia), led by bassist Jenelle Roccaforte, which combines jazz with contemporary rhythm and blues. All of its members are currently pursuing their postgraduate studies at Berklee Valencia.
The presence of women continues to gain weight in the Novembre line-up, thanks to the determined support of the Vice-Rectorate for Art, Science, Technology and Society and a notable increase in the number of female artists who choose the practice of jazz. It is a pleasure to present the quartet of the singer Sara Dowling one of the best vocalists of the young British jazz (day 7 Valencia, day 8 Gandia), and the flautist and singer Maria Gil with their debut album “Veye” (8th in Valencia).
The cartell will be completed by the pianist’s trio Eduard Marquina-Selfa The disc of which “Carpesa estesa” has been one of the surprises of the last season (day 9 Alcoi and day 10 Valencia), and the tenor saxophonist Vicent Macián an essential of our scene that presents his most recent recording, “Llum”, at the head of a powerful quintet (9th Valencia).
