gen10(E). Rehearsals of the real

The exhibition that traces the history of Spontaneous Generation and looks to the future. Now at the Gandia Campus.

Over the last ten years, more than 15,000 students at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) have participated in interdisciplinary projects, transferring their knowledge and training beyond the classroom. An experience that has become a reality thanks to Spontaneous Generation, a pioneering program in the Spanish public university that has transformed the way of learning, creating and sharing knowledge.

Since its creation in 2014, Spontaneous Generation has fostered an active learning model based on student team self-management and collaboration across disciplines. Many of the teams have competed internationally and some have even achieved entrepreneurial accomplishments.

In the UPV Gandia Campus the teams stand out for their cultural, scientific and technological profile. They develop projects related to the application of new technologies, audiovisual production, scenic expression or the promotion of reading, among other proposals.

A decade brought together in an exhibition

The exhibition gen10(E). Rehearsals of the real commemorates the anniversary of Generación Espontánea UPV with a journey through these ten years of collective work through three different areas that allow us to recognize the past, experience the present and anticipate the future.

“From germ to system” reviews the milestones and key moments of the program. “Learning by doing” brings together materials, images and objects from the teams that reflect the culture of doing and shared memory. Finally, “Futures under construction” looks ahead with the presentation of the new Spontaneous Generation building.

Curated by Ángela Montesinos Lapuente, the exhibition is part of the actions of the UPV_SIRVE Strategic Plan, promoted by the Vice-rectorships for Planning, Studies, Quality and Accreditation; Art, Science, Technology and Society, and the Vice-rectorate for Students and Entrepreneurship, responsible for the Spontaneous Generation program, which promotes leadership, entrepreneurship and interdisciplinarity in the university community.

The exhibition gen10(E). Rehearsals of the real will be open to the public until February 28, 2026 in the Multipurpose Room (Building H, CRAI) of the Gandia Campus of the UPV.
