CiènciaLab, a new way to get to know science

New scientific and technological workshops aimed at secondary school and vocational training students.

With the aim of bringing science to society, every year various activities are organized, among them, ScienceLab. This is an initiative that consists of scientific, technological and artistic workshops aimed at students in the third and fourth years of secondary education and training courses.

These workshops, taught by university professors and adapted to the research areas of the Gandia Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), seek to encourage interest in research and awaken the scientific vocation of young students.

The activity takes place in the morning, in the campus facilities. The groups are small, from 20 to 25 people, maximum, per workshop. Each day includes participation in two workshops and the opportunity to visit the university center.

Three workshops have been scheduled for the first quarter of the 2025-2026 academic year:

  • What are interactive and immersive technologies? by Professor Fernando Boronat, explores the possibilities and use of the main technological trends.
  • A virtual trip around the world taught by Professor Jesús Martí, shows the particularities of Google Earth, Engine or Voyager, as well as the latest satellite imaging tools.
  • Study of the environment by means of satellite imagery with Professor Javier Estornell, focuses on the use of remote sensing to analyze significant changes in areas of environmental interest.
