A history of manias

Pequeños calvarios explores “the inner demons, everyday miseries and small tragedies that we all carry inside”, explains its director, Javier Polo. Obsessive order, diet psychosis, annoying noises or the need to put on a garment in a very specific way are some of the manias that give life to this black comedy.

With a touch of acid humor, the film tells five different stories, all of which are connected, “We have worked to articulate the obsessions and make them seem like one story”, adds Polo.

The cast of actors and actresses in the film includes Arturo Valls, Berta Vázquez, Vito Sanz, Andrea Duro, Pablo Molinero, Raúl Navarro and Lorena López, among others. For its director, Javier Polo, this project has been like “a very funny and absurd hooliganism on which we have been working for several years”.

A co-production between Spain and Mexico

Co-produced between Spain and Mexico, Pequeños calvarios aspires to become one of the most original films of the year, consolidating the trajectory of the Polo brothers as the most singular producers and creators of the audiovisual panorama.
