Blood donation

On Tuesday, October 28, starting at 10:00 a.m., on the campus facilities.

A mobile team from the Transfusion Center of the Comunitat Valenciana will travel to the Gandia campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) to offer the entire university community the opportunity to save lives by donating blood.

The Transfusion Center recalls the importance of donation, since it is an act of life. Therefore, invites reflection and calls on the university community to join the donation and become part of this network of solidarity.

New blood donation campaign on campus

During the academic year, mobile teams from the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community go to university campuses to facilitate blood donation to the educational community. These campaigns, which are usually organized in spring and autumn, allow students and staff to donate blood without having to leave the campus, thanks to mobile units equipped with everything necessary for the donation.

Donation data in 2024: a year of growth and engagement

The Transfusion Center closed the year 2024 with a total of 176,411 units of blood collected, thanks to the solidarity of 116,314 people. In the province of Valencia there were 96,924 units, 17,909 in the province of Castellón and 61,578 in the province of Alicante. In addition, there was an 11% increase in the number of new donors with respect to 2023, with 17,435 additions. As for plasma and platelet donations, 8,561 donations were made by 4,114 donors.

To donate blood you must be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilos and be in good health.

All persons wishing to donate blood on Tuesday, October 28 have to go to the Triangular Room (first floor, building F) of the Gandia campus from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm and from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
