Psychological care

Free counseling and emotional support service for the university community.

In order to contribute to the welfare of people, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) offers students and university staff a free resource for guidance and emotional support: the Psychological Care Service for the University Community (SAPCU). This service, which has been in operation for three years now, offers on-site assistance at the Gandia Campus and since this year has been extended to include university staff.

The SAPCU is not a medical service, nor does it replace specialized psychological or psychiatric care, but rather a space for listening and guidance. The program is designed to help to cope with personal or emotional situations that may be affecting wellbeing. The attention has a maximum of 10 sessions per person and academic year, although in most cases the support is resolved in a smaller number. The specific duration of the accompaniment is determined by the professional who attends, depending on the needs detected.

Service for students and university staff

The SAPCU offers guidance and individual support to students, teaching and research staff (PDI), technical, management and administration and services staff (PTGAS), and research staff.

Access to the service will always be made through referral by the units and services with this capacity, in the case of students, by the University Psychopedagogical Guidance Office (GOPU), the Equality and Diversity Unit, the Service of Attention to Students with Disabilities (CEDAT-UPV) or the Juana Portaceli Health Center.

And in the case of personnel; PDI, PTGAS and research personnel, access to the service is done directly by writing to the following e-mail address sapcu@upv.es to request an appointment.
