The director of the Gandia campus, Vicenç Almenar, takes stock of his first months at the head of the campus and future challenges in a meeting with the media.
“They have been very intense months, with a lot of work,” said the director of the Gandia campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Vicenç Almenar, at the breakfast briefing with the media. During this meeting, he took stock of his first seven months at the helm of the center and shared the projects that will mark the future of the center.
Enrollment data for the 25-26 academic year
The 2025-2026 academic year has started with 352 new students enrolled in the undergraduate and double degree programs offered at the Gandia campus, and with 206 people enrolled in one of the master’s degrees offered by the center. These figures “offer us a solid base to continue growing and introducing improvements in our educational offer”, said Almenar.
News for the next courses: more places and new titles
Among the main new developments announced, highlights the study for the implementation of a new degree in Business and Digital Technology, with the aim of renewing and expanding the current offer linked to business and tourism management. “We want to reconfigure the studies of Tourism and strengthen our proposal in a key area for the economic development of the environment,” explained the director of the Gandia campus.
As for the master’s degrees, Almenar pointed out that the company is evaluating which new degrees could be implemented “to better meet the needs of the business world, our graduates and society in general”.
An example of the current success in postgraduate training is the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching, which this year has reached 103 enrollments. “The demand is very high, and that is why we are considering expanding the offer up to 200 places,” he stressed.
Promoting marine research and training
This academic year has begun to teach the Double Degree in Environmental Sciences and Marine Sciences and Technologies, a strategic commitment that “requires a strong investment”, but “strengthens the positioning of our campus in the marine and environmental field”. The launch of this new double degree “is aligned with the creation of the future center of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography in Gandia and will take advantage of the entire trajectory of the Joint Unit in Technology for Marine Studies between the IEO-CSIC and the UPV”.
A campus open to society and future students
In addition to the academic field, Vicenç Almenar has also advanced the desire to expand the presence of the Gandia campus in the cultural and social life of the city, the Safor and nearby counties. “We want our campus to be not only the campus of Gandia, but also that of the Safor and neighboring counties,” he said. To this end, activities are being prepared that can be held both in the university facilities and in different surrounding municipalities.
“We are going to make an effort to move part of our programming off campus, to be more present, to be better known and to offer a better service to the society around us,” concluded Almenar.
