Knowledge transfer in fishery acoustics

The Zunibal – UPV Chair is born to promote research in marine remote sensing systems.

The ecosystem of entrepreneurial chairs at the Universitat Politècnica de València continues to grow with the adhesion of Zunibal, a company of technological solutions for sustainable fishing.

The new Zunibal Chair aims to promote and develop training, research and technological development, and knowledge transfer activities in the field of fishery acoustics, in order to improve marine remote sensing systems and ensure their alignment with international scientific reference standards.

This chair, attached to the Gandia Campus, will offer students the possibility of internships, continuing education programs, cultural activities and the promotion of meetings with professionals in the sector, among other activities.

This chair is the result of 12 years of collaboration between Zunibal and the Universitat Politècnica de València. For Ibone Rodríguez de Pablo, CEO of Zunibal, this signing becomes an opportunity for the company itself, which will be able to instruct students in its technology and, together with the UPV, “create a good future for the students and show the world the work of Zunibal in the marine world.

The chair director, Isabel Pérez Arjona, explained that this chair represents an important turning point for the campus, which is closely linked to the marine environment, in terms of research and teaching. For her, it is fundamental and a natural step that will benefit students through the provision of training and funding for the development of Final Degree and Master’s Degree Projects.
