The Gandia Campus will once again be the local venue for the largest international event to create video games, the Global Game Jam, from January 30 to February 1. Registration open.
The Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will once again be the local headquarters of the Global Game Jam (GGJ); the world’s largest video game creation event. From January 30 to February 1, students, teachers, professionals and video game enthusiasts will gather in this marathon that aims to promote the creative development of video games.
Create a video game in record time
The Global Game Jam is based on collaboration and the learning collective. To participate, it is not necessary to have previous knowledge in programming or game design, just a passion for video games and the desire to be part of a creative team.
The event, which is held simultaneously in more than 800 locations in 100 countries, brings together tens of thousands of participants annually. Its main objective is to promote innovation and video game development experimental projects in a limited time, challenging participants to work under pressure to create prototypes, following the theme established by the Global Game Jam, in 48 hours.
A must on the Gandia Campus calendar
The Gandia Campus of the UPV has been hosting this video game creation marathon since 2013, at the initiative of a group of students from the center. After more than a decade of being held, Gandia Game Jam has managed to consolidate its place in the academic calendar. Each celebration provides a meeting and experimentation point, but the purpose is always the same: to motivate the development of practical skills in the multimedia field, complementing formal academic training.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of one of the biggest video game development challenges in the world!
Gandia Game Jam 2026 will take place from January 30 to February 1, at the Gandia Campus of the UPV and is sponsored by the Chair of Innovation.
