Intensive Spanish courses, recommended for those who want to learn or improve their Spanish and access the University.
More and more international students are choosing Spain as a destination for their university education. With this common goal in mind, Aysenur, Amanda, Eylül, Inci, Theo and 30 other students have decided to improve their level of Spanish in order to gain access to higher education at a Spanish university.
Improve the level of Spanish to pursue a degree on campus
Theo comes from Brazil and wants to study the Degree in Interactive Technologies at the Gandia Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). Inci and Eylül have arrived from Turkey with the same goal: to master the language and take the exam that will allow them to obtain the official Spanish degree required to start your university career here.
A program with international trajectory and diversity
A semester stay is a valuable way to immerse yourself in Spanish culture and language. Amanda says she found out about the UPV Gandia Campus through the Internet, looking for a program to learn Spanish and prepare for Spanish university. In the end she opted for the program coordinated by I speak Educational Programs a company that collaborates with the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). This program has evolved and adapted to new markets, which has led to a significant increase in the number of students from different countries and a growing cultural diversity in university classrooms.
How many hours does it take to learn Spanish?
The Spanish Language and Culture Program for University Admission covers different levels, from beginners to B2 level. This is how it is explained Rebeca Díez, professor at the Gandia Campus and course coordinator. The classes include grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, conversation and practical exercises. In addition, learning is complemented with excursions and cultural activities outside the classroom. According to Díez, progress is greater when the student practices the language beyond the classroom, interacting on a day-to-day basis with the campus community and the city’s environment.
Learn Spanish at the Gandia Campus
The course is taught in the facilities of the UPV Gandia Campus and offers a complete linguistic immersion. Students have the opportunity to listen to and practice Spanish constantly, improve their oral and reading comprehension and learn first-hand about Spanish culture, traditions and gastronomy.
The location of the campus, close to the beach and well connected to the capital of the province, is another factor that makes the Gandia Campus an attractive destination to study Spanish.
In addition, students are supported by a team of mentors who accompany them throughout their academic experience. Claudia is studying the Degree in Tourism and is one of the mentors who will help this semester, offering information and guidance about classes, college life and integration.
A certificate that opens the door to university
At the end of the Spanish Language and Culture for University Access course, students receive a certificate accrediting the B2 level of Spanish. As Rebeca Díez points out, this certificate allows access to UPV degrees where this language level is required.

Intensive Spanish Course for exchange students
On the other hand, the Gandia Campus also teaches the intensive Spanish course for exchange students. The program is designed to help you improve your Spanish language skills before the start of the new semester of the academic year.
This course will be given from January 19 to 28, from 8:30 am to 11:00 am and from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. The 40-hour program involves constant work on the part of the students to assimilate the content in eight days.
Precisely, in order to make it easier to follow the classes and to improve the knowledge of the language, the course is presented with varieties to adapt to the levels of the students. Thus, we can find groups of level A1 and A2, as well as B1 and B2.
