Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Organization Engineering

What is the content of this degree?

The aim of this degree is to provide students with a solid grounding in science and technology to enable them to direct, advise, operate and improve organizations, production systems, processes, services and information systems to promote a competitive advantage for the organization, taking into account technological and human aspects and the economic viability of the proposals they design.


What skills do you need before starting this degree?

The recommended profile for students enrolling on this course is a good level in mathematics, computer studies, physics and chemistry; a high level of personal effort and dedication to study. Students are also required to have a capacity for work; they must be responsible, and persevere with their studies, they should be entrepreneurial and innovative with the ability to organise their work effectively. Students also need a good combination of abstract and analytical reasoning skills, and the capacity to consider and resolve concrete industrial organization engineering problems in order to be able to analyse the reasons why things do not operate as they should and design and introduce more efficient ways to carry out processes, provide services, manufacture products or handle information, using the technologies of industrial organization engineering.


What skills will you have once you finish this degree?

You will be a professional, able to identify and solve problems and optimize the processes in an organization, making it more efficient. You will be able to assess the most appropriate operations management tools for the organization's strategic priorities, key indicators, available resources, anticipated benefits and costs, conditions in the industry, technological limitations and corporate social responsibility.

You will be able to use those skills to propose improvements, collaborate with the implementation and monitoring of proposed actions and play an important role in leading and motivating the people who have to carry them out.


What are your professional options after you finish this degree?

Your work will be linked to positions of responsibility for people and equipment in any of the departments within an organization. In the case of industrial firms, you are likely to be in charge of the operations, production, maintenance, quality control, logistics or R&D departments, or manage continuous improvement processes or projects.

In some cases, you will be responsible for marketing or occupational risk prevention. You may also work in firms dedicated to other economic activities such as services, especially consultancy and logistics providers. You may also choose to work in public administration or research and development, or teaching (at a secondary school or university).


What are your internship options?

You will have the opportunity to gain work experience in one of the many private and public companies, public bodies, technological institutes, consultancies and engineering firms where signed agreements are in place with the Faculty.

In many cases, in addition to completing your training, you will also be able to work on your final degree project.


Where can you spend a semester abroad?

You can spend a semester abroad at one of the universities in more than 30 different countries in Europe and around the world with which the Faculty has signed exchange agreements (University of Manchester, École Centrale Paris, INSA Lyon, Politecnico di Milano, etc). Studying at another university will help you complete your studies, as well as providing a very positive personal experience, enabling you to find out about other cultures and become fluent in other languages. You can also spend one semester at a different university in Spain.


What are your master's degree options?

This degree provides access to any master's degree course offered by UPV. Your profile, however, will be very suitable for the Master's degree in Advanced Production Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain and the Master's degree in Companies, Products and Services.

To access other master's degree courses you may, in some cases, be required to take additional training. In particular, to access the Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, which qualifies you to work in this branch of engineering you must first take the corresponding additional training courses.
