Bachelor's Degree in Tourism

What does this degree entail?

This degree aims to train students to be able to plan and sustainably manage tourist destinations, lead and manage companies within the fields of hosting, catering and other tourist activities, design, communicate and sell tourist trips, lead and manage public institutions related to tourism and communicate in several languages with tour agents.


What skills do you need before starting this degree?

It is desirable for students to have a prior knowledge of mathematics, an ability to learn languages and a taste for foreign cultures.


What skills will you have once you finish this degree?

Graduates in Tourism will be able to:

    • Identify and analyze tourist factors and carry out research and studies within the tourist sector, applying the suitable methodology.

    • Manage private and public tourist companies.

    • Manage cultural and natural heritage using valuation techniques and identification of social actors and elements.

    • Communicate in English and in a second foreign language (German or French).

    • Make use of information and communications technology (ICT) in the different areas within the tourism sector.

    • Search, assimilate and share new knowledge enhancing their personal and professional development in an organized way.


What are your professional options after you finish this degree?

Graduates can work hotel and catering companies, travel agencies, tour operators, tourist promotion companies, fairs, transport organizations, tourism development and planning companies, associations, organization of conventions and events, rural or environmental tourism, tourism departments in different agencies and public institutions, public or private research (R&D) centres, and also as teachers in public and private centres, amongst other options.


What are your internship options?

The UPV has signed nearly 300 educational cooperation agreements with public and private enterprises within the tourist sector so that students can go on internships with them.

Internships are related to hotel management, travel agencies, tour operators, entertainment and events, market research, ecotourism, public planning and management of tourist destinations, golf courses, design and creation of tourist projects, etc.


Where can you spend a semester abroad?

The school has signed exchange agreements with universities in Germany, Austria, Finland, France, Italy, Ireland and Netherlands.

You can also access the double degree in Leisure and Toursim Management at the Fachhochschule Straslund.


What are your master's degree options?

After you finish this degree, you can enrol to the master's degree in Business, Product and Service Management offered by the UPV, where you can choose between two specializations: Advanced Service Management, which is taught in Spain, and Product Technology, which is taught in Germany.

In addition, you can enrol in to the master's degree in Cultural Management (interuniversity courses coordinated with the University of Valencia).

You may also enrol in to any other UPV master's degree course by taking the corresponding bridging subjects.
