Presentation of the degree

Data is the basis of our knowledge of the world: from vehicle movements to temperatures in a hospital.

Data Science graduates are capable of creating knowledge extracted from data. Those professionals trained in Data Science will be able to design data collection in any environment (industrial, sociological, economic, political, business, etc.), they will be able to process, analyse and combine data from different sources, as well as extract knowledge and communicate effectively how to manage the strategic decision making.

Career opportunities

Data scientists are highly sought-after professionals, especially in strategic sectors such as health, banking, commerce, the public sector, industry and communication.

Graduates in data science will be trained to lead analysis projects aimed at improving industrial processes, risk analysis, the anticipation of possible epidemics, the analysis of drug resistance, the management of clients and users, the design of new products, the study of the evolution of ecosystems and, generally, the decision making in any organization.

International mobility and internships

Data Science students will have a flexibility similar to that of Informatics Engineering when choosing international destinations in which to study for a semester, carry out their final degree project or internships in companies. The School of Informatics has agreements with some of the best European universities (Finland, Holland, United Kingdom, Germany, France, etc.) and also with universities in the United States, China, Japan and Australia.

Further studies

With this degree students may access the following university master's degrees taught by the UPV: Information Management; Software Engineering, Formal Methods and Information Systems; and Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition and Digital Imaging. As in the rest of the cases, students may apply for admission to any UPV master's degree by taking the appropriate levelling courses.
