Presentation of the degree

The Degree in Biotechnology aims to train professionals to be able to research, innovate, develop and improve processes, tools and biotechnological materials in the fields of health, food, agriculture, livestock and aquaculture, forestry production, energy, environment and industry.

Career opportunities

Biotechnology shows a high degree of internationalization with frequent mobility of professionals and students. Many prestigious international universities offer biotechnology studies. The exchange programmes (Erasmus and other similar ones) enable to carry out stays in other universities. The Schools of Agricultural Engineering and Environment has agreements with a large number of institutions, this way biotechnology students can partly study abroad.

International mobility and internships

There are more than 700 biotechnology companies in Spain, and more than 50 are located in the Valencia region. Furthermore, many other companies in the health, agri-food, environmental and chemical industry develop biotechnological activities. Students will be able to carry out internships in those companies, as well as in hospitals and research centres.

Further studies

The Degree in Biotechnology enables access to the following university master's degrees taught by the UPV: Biomedical Biotechnology; Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Plant Genetic Improvement.

It also grants access to any university master's degree from the UPV by taking the appropriate levelling courses.
