The Group of Studies on Development, Cooperation and Ethics (GEDCE) is a multidisciplinary research group, recognized as a research structure by the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Technical University of Valencia, UPV).

The GEDCE aims at contributing to the promotion of global social justice. For this purpose, it tries to support impoverished people and communities by using the transformative capacity of University through its three main components: research, teaching and social outreach.

The GEDCE believes that one fundamental instrument for this aims is the international aid, as a key axis for building a strong civil society both in the Global North and in the Global South. Aid must be understood as an horizontal exchange between peoples and institutions.

All this aims also at building collectively an idea of development as interdependent, sustainable and people-centered. An idea of development that promotes gender equality, that it is based in a culture of solidarity and that must lead to overcome inequalities and poverty, to ensure human rights and to the consolidation of peace.
