Update on preventive measures for today, 16 September-Vera and Gandia campuses

The Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Centre has issued ORANGE rain alerts for today, Wednesday 16 September, at the Vera campus (València) and YELLOW rain alerts at the Gandia campus, for the period between 16:00 and 23:59. There is also a yellow storm warning in place for both campuses.

In light of this situation, the Rector's Emergency Committee (GER) has put the following preventative measures in place:

On both campuses: suspension of outdoor activities throughout the day

Outdoor activities on the Vera and Gandia campuses are suspended for the entire day, including teaching, sporting, cultural, research and maintenance activities.

During the morning, activities inside buildings will continue as normal, subject to any necessary measures should the situation change.

Vera Campus: online teaching from 3.00 pm

From 3.00 pm, teaching will switch to an online format; therefore, students need not travel to the campus to attend afternoon classes. Academic staff will provide instructions on how to follow the lessons via the usual channels for each course.

About afternoon work, staff may work on-site or remotely where their duties permit, in consultation with the person in charge of their unit. The circumstances of each case will be taken into account, particularly the place of residence, the duration and route of journeys, available means of transport, and safety conditions both for travelling to the campus and for returning home.

The relevant units must ensure that critical activities and facilities are maintained and that the necessary safety measures are in place.

Gandia Campus: continuation of in-person indoor activities

In Gandia, in-person teaching and work activities will continue in the morning and afternoon, except for outdoor activities, which are suspended for the entire day.

Travel and monitoring the situation

It is recommended that you avoid unnecessary travel during this event, check the weather forecast and road conditions before setting off, and take into account the conditions at your point of departure, along the route and at your destination. Do not cross flooded areas, ravines or underpasses where water has accumulated.

The switch to online learning does not mean that you must leave the campus if it is unsafe to do so. In such cases, you should remain in a safe place and follow the instructions of University Security and the UPV's emergency services.
