The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) launches a new series of 'Peer-Reviewed'

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has launched a new series of Revisado por pares, the podcast that gives the public insight into the more personal side of leading figures in science associated with the UPV. In total, there are eight episodes featuring sixteen UPV researchers, who discuss their scientific vocation and career paths, as well as music, film, literature, travel, sport and memories.

The season kicks off with Salomé Cuesta and Moisés Mañas from the Sculpture Department in an episode that delves into the worlds of Ridley Scott and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, with Cádiz and Nirvana also featuring prominently.

The second episode brings together Carlos Tavares and Sara Blanc from the Computer Engineering Department on a journey linking Saramago, The Matrix, Galicia, and the Valencian scientist Primo Yúfera. The third episode features Amparo López from the Hydraulic Engineering and Environment Department and José Antonio Madrid from the Institute for the Heritage Restoration, who engage in a conversation that brings together Sabina, Peter Pan, Star Wars, and UPV restorer and researcher Pilar Roig.

Nuria Chaparro and Norat Tierno, from the Economics and Social Sciences Department, feature in the fourth instalment, in which they discuss food waste, Rome, sport and family. The fifth episode features Andrea González and Antonio González, from the Research Institute for Molecular Imaging Technologies (I3M), a joint centre run by the UPV and the CSIC. Metallica, the mountains of Cuenca and interstellar travel form the backdrop to their personal and scientific journeys.

The sixth episode features Itziar Irakulis and Xavi Gorroño from the LARS-IIAMA group in a conversation where music, football, the city of Valencia, and methane come together. The series continues with Juan Carlos Cortés and Cristina Santamaría, from the Research Institute for Multidisciplinary Mathematics, who take us into the world of Gandalf, Sinatra, Clint Eastwood and the sea. The season concludes with Ramón Martínez Máñez and Elena Aznar, from the Interuniversity Research Institute for Molecular Recognition and Technological Development (IDM). With them, we embark on an odyssey through space, accompanied by brilliant minds, whilst reviewing their latest R&D advances in the fight against cancer.
