The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has held its Welcome Days and Services Fair, two initiatives that have kicked off the 2026–2027 academic year and aim to support students during their first few days at university.

The Welcome Days are aimed particularly at students starting their undergraduate or postgraduate studies and take place across the UPV's various schools and faculties. During these events, new students get to know their school and receive information on the academic and administrative workings of the UPV, its main digital tools – including PoliformaT – the Students' Council, and the Comprehensive Student Support Plan, PIAE+.

"The first few days at university are crucial. We want students to feel supported from the very start, to know where to turn when they have a query, and be aware of all the resources the UPV makes available to them," emphasises Marina Alonso, head of the PIAE+ programme at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

Those responsible for the PIAE+ programme at the 13 centres of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), their management teams and Student Representatives, as well as the academic staff and students who make up the mentoring groups, are all involved in organising the event. These groups ensure that new students at the UPV receive support from senior students and academic mentors during their settling-in period.

Services Fair

To complement the event, the Student House garden on the Vera campus hosted the Services Fair.

This year's fair featured 30 services and 140 participants from various departments across the UPV. Students had the opportunity to discover first-hand the resources available in areas such as the library, sport, culture, volunteering, work placements and employment, entrepreneurship, mobility, and the environment, as well as the Servipoli Foundation, the Student Union, and the Students' Council.

"The Fair allows us to show students that the university experience goes far beyond the classroom. The UPV offers numerous opportunities to develop, get involved, look after their wellbeing, gain professional experience and play an active role in the university community," says Marina Alonso.

The Welcome Day and the Services Fair are coordinated by Marina Alonso from the UPV's Academic Excellence Unit, with the support of the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE).
