Employability UPV

The quality of teaching, paid work placements, and the strong alumni network are some of the factors behind the high employment rate among UPV graduates

[ 22/06/2026 ]

Nine out of ten students at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) find a job related to their university studies within a year of graduating. This figure can be attributed to the quality of teaching, paid work placements, the strong Alumni UPV network, the Servipoli and UPV Design Factory programmes, language training and the organisation of the Employment Forum, amongst other factors.

To deliver many of these initiatives, the UPV has the Career and Employment Service, which centralises the wide range of paid work placements, job vacancies and employability training programmes. This service boasts a user satisfaction rate – that is, among students and graduates almost exclusively – of 92%.

The practical application of class material and the experience of being immersed in the workplace are the main benefits of work placements. Luis Cadavid, a student on the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation who, since October, has been on a work placement at Siemens' Paterna site, and Nuria Collado, a student on the Master's Degree in Social Media and Corporate Communication, currently on a work placement at the communications agency Agua y Sal, can attest to this.

"Work placements are fundamental to our professional development and key to facing the future with greater determination," says Collado. For his part, Cadavid highlights the "intensive" learning process made possible by working in a large company, as in his case, which allows him to gain "confidence, autonomy and self-assurance gradually".

Companies play a decisive role in providing students with a well-rounded education. Currently, the UPV has 10,866 internship agreements with 2,544 organisations across all sectors of the economy. It is worth noting that 98% of these are paid internships (except for some NGOs or public institutions that do not allow this), with a total funding pot exceeding 15 million euros.

107 corporate chairs

At the same time, the UPV maintains 107 active corporate chairs in partnership with 206 companies and institutions, which in 2026 will contribute more than seven million euros to boost the professional careers of UPV students. Furthermore, this enables the participating students to come to the attention of these organisations' talent-scouting networks.

Jennifer Viedma, one of Torrecid's human resources managers, comments that the UPV is "synonymous with reliability". She adds: "We need fresh talent to continue growing, which is why we take part in numerous initiatives organised by this university. Any UPV graduate is a safe bet for us".

1,240 work placements in four days

Torrecid operates in 29 countries and was, in fact, one of more than 230 companies taking part in the latest edition of the UPV Employment Forum, which was held across the UPV's three campuses (València, Gandia and Alcoy) and served as a meeting place for companies, students and graduates.

At its latest edition in May, expectations were once again exceeded, with over 5,000 visitors per day in Valencia, 62,000 CVs collected and a very high level of satisfaction with the event, with 72% of participating companies and institutions rating it as 'very good'. The results of this event will be known in a year. Still, at the 2025 edition, 125 participating companies formalised 1,240 work placement contracts in just four days.

Studying and working at the UPV

In addition to work placements and the opportunities offered by the Employment Forum, the Servipoli Foundation provides 5,500 part-time jobs. Students carry out this work at the UPV's centres and services, and it is compatible with their studies. Beyond the financial benefit, it often represents their first work experience and, therefore, a boost to their future employability.

All these factors, together with others such as the UPV Design Factory programme—which fosters students' cross-curricular competencies beyond the classroom and is a pioneering initiative in Spain—and Ideas UPV, which promotes entrepreneurial spirit, have enabled the UPV to become the first Spanish university to be awarded the SEE seal for employability and entrepreneurship, officially granted by ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation).

96% of graduates would choose to study at the UPV again, and one of the reasons is the high level of employability the UPV offers its students and graduates.

Pre-enrolment for master's programmes, now open

Studying for a master's degree significantly improves employability prospects and is often accompanied by higher pay. It frequently serves as the definitive springboard for launching a successful professional career. At the UPV, there are over 100 master's degrees and dual master's degrees from which to choose the most suitable specialisation, depending on one's personal goals and challenges.

The UPV has set aside four application periods for places on its postgraduate programmes. In this regard, Phase 2 of pre-enrolment for master's degrees will be open from 15 to 26 June; this is the busiest phase in terms of programme availability.
