The UPV ranks among the world's top 500 universities for the 15th consecutive year
[ 18/06/2026 ]
This is confirmed by the latest edition of the prestigious ranking compiled by the consultancy firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which, after assessing 21 million research articles, 222 million citations, 1.6 million responses to academic surveys and information from 121, 024 academic institutions and 69,432 employers, ranks the UPV 434th and highlights its strengths in international research networks (213th in the world, up 27 places on the previous year), sustainability (225th) and academic reputation (310th).
Nine indicators
To compile the study, Quacquarelli Symonds assesses nine indicators for higher education institutions: academic reputation, international research networks, student-to-staff ratio, sustainability, proportion of international students and academic staff, citations per school/faculty, employer reputation and graduate employment.
The UPV: Spain's top university for Agricultural Sciences, Art and Design, Chemical Engineering, and Statistics and Operational Research
In addition to the QS World University Rankings, published annually since 2004, Quacquarelli Symonds also produces annual subject-specific university rankings.
In its latest edition, published last March, QS ranked the UPV in 18 disciplines, naming it the best university in Spain for Agricultural Sciences, Art and Design, Chemical Engineering, and Statistics and Operational Research.
Furthermore, at a global level, QS ranked the UPV as the 36th best university in the world for Agricultural Sciences and amongst the world's top 100 for Architecture and Information and Document Management, as well as including it amongst the world's 150 leading universities in Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, Art and Design, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Statistics and Operational Research.

These results complement those achieved by the UPV in the assessments conducted by the world's other two leading indicators of university quality: Jiao Tong University, which compiles the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) – commonly known as the Shanghai Ranking –, and Times Higher Education (THE).
Indeed, in its latest publication, ARWU ranked the UPV as Spain's best polytechnic and included it, for the 21st consecutive year, amongst the world's top 500 universities. Meanwhile, the seventh edition of the THE Impact Rankings recognised the UPV as the Spanish university with the greatest social and economic impact worldwide.
