New strategic partnerships with major Chinese technology firms
The UPV signs agreements with Huawei and Unitree Robotics to link education, research and industry at its Hangzhou campus

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) continues advancing in China as part of its internationalisation strategy by signing several strategic agreements with Huawei and Unitree Robotics, internationally renowned companies and technology alliances that will join the ecosystem of the Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute (BVPI).
The agreements, promoted in collaboration with Beihang University, reinforce the BVPI's position as an international university campus closely connected to the world's most advanced technology industry and consolidate a university model focused on applied research, innovation and global employability.
The "China-Spain Day", held on the Hangzhou campus, has served as an institutional framework for strengthening strategic links between both universities and their leading business ecosystems. In this context, the Rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, has stressed that 'China and Spain Day', which we are hosting today at the Hangzhou Campus, is one of the first public events of our recently established Beihang–Valencia Polytechnic Institute (BVPI)'.
Capilla placed this project within the historical context of the two countries' relationship, highlighting that these ties "date back centuries" and emphasising Valencia's role as a historic hub connecting the East and West via the Silk Road.
At the same event, the Rector highlighted the strategic importance of the agreements signed with two of China's leading technology companies, stating that "Today, we are also signing important agreements that will enable close collaboration between the BVPI and two of China's leading technology firms: Huawei and Unitree Robotics ". In this regard, he explained that the aim is "to promote the exchange of experiences in research and innovation between our institutions", as well as to drive joint projects and facilitate shared access to cutting-edge laboratories and infrastructure.
Capilla also emphasised that "the great distinguishing feature of the BVPI is that our students will not only receive academic training of the highest standard, but will also be able to work from the very outset in close contact with leading companies in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, telecommunications, advanced mobility and aerospace technologies".
BVPI
The Beihang Valencia Polytechnic Institute, located on the Hangzhou campus — one of the world's leading technology hubs and considered the Asian Silicon Valley — will commence its teaching activities in the 2026–2027 academic year with a range of programmes comprising 4 bachelor's degrees, 6 master's degrees and 4 PhD programmes, all taught entirely in English.
One of the most significant agreements reached during this phase of the institutional journey was the one signed with Huawei Technologies Spain, which will enable progress in the creation of ICT talent ecosystems, technology laboratories, international certifications and projects linked to artificial intelligence, data, cloud computing, advanced connectivity and the digitalisation of smart campuses.
Thanks to this collaboration, students will have access to specialised training programmes, activities promoted by the Huawei ICT Academy and technological environments connected to state-of-the-art digital infrastructure.
The partnership with Unitree Robotics also places the BVPI at the international forefront of advanced robotics. The agreement will enable the promotion of research lines in intelligent and empathetic robotics, the development of specialised laboratories, and student access to state-of-the-art robotic platforms already in use at universities and research centres worldwide.
The agreement also provides for work placements, international mobility, industrial PhDs and direct student participation in real-world projects linked to artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and humanoid robotics.
