What's my name?

The UPV launches a vote for the university community to choose the name of its new character

[ 20/05/2026 ]

The Universitat Politècnica de València invites the entire university community to be part of a historic moment: naming the new character that will accompany the university's visual identity.

From Monday 18 May to Thursday 21 May, you can vote for one of five proposed names:

Poli

Pi

Dot

Tec

Niu

Voting is open via this link, accessible with UPV credentials. Each member of the university community may cast one vote. On Monday, 25 May, the winning name will be announced and will thereafter be used to identify the new character.

The jewel in the crown

The new character has been derived from the central element of the crown in the UPV coat of arms. Based on this shape, a dynamic figure has been created, capable of expressing emotions and adapting to the identities of the different schools within the Universitat Politècnica de València.

The proposal, developed by the Valencia-based graphic design studio Meteorito, aims to represent, bring together, connect with, and humanise an institution with a strong, established, and respected identity—one built on something truly valuable: a large community that lives, feels, and shapes the university every day.

With a contemporary, simple and easily recognisable design, this new element seeks to strengthen the sense of belonging, encourage participation, and create a more direct connection with younger generations. It aims to help shape a UPV that is more approachable, dynamic, and recognisable.
