The Jewel in the Crown
Here to stay: the Universitat Politècnica de València unveils its most distinctive symbol
[ 14/05/2026 ]
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is introducing a new character that will become one of its most recognisable symbols. This marks an important addition to the visual identity of UPV, designed to bring a sense of approachability, freshness, and a more human touch to its communications.
The new character will coexist with the UPV brand. It will be present across digital and physical formats, taking part in campaigns, activities and communication initiatives, particularly those aimed at students and the wider university community.
The jewel in the crown
The new character has been derived from the central element of the crown in the UPV coat of arms. Based on this shape, a dynamic figure has been created, capable of expressing emotions and adapting to the identities of the different schools within the Universitat Politècnica de València.
The proposal, developed by the Valencia-based graphic design studio Meteorito, aims to represent, bring together, connect with, and humanise an institution with a strong, established, and respected identity—one built on something truly valuable: a large community that lives, feels, and shapes the university every day.
With a contemporary, simple and easily recognisable design, this new element seeks to strengthen the sense of belonging, encourage participation, and create a more direct connection with younger generations. It aims to help shape a UPV that is more approachable, dynamic, and recognisable.
No name… for now
For the time being, the new character remains unnamed. The university community will have the opportunity to decide its name starting Monday, 25 May. A vote will be opened to select the final name from five proposed options.
