The UPV, best university in Spain for studying Fine Arts, Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering and Agricultural and Biological Engineering

[ 11/05/2026 ]

The UPV is the best university in Spain for studying Fine Arts, Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering and Agricultural and Biological Engineering. This is corroborated by the results of the recently published latest edition of the 50 Degrees Ranking, carried out by the newspaper El Mundo based on the application of 27 criteria -two of which are provided by the internationally recognised university ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), accounting for 10% of the final score- and the opinion of more than 3,000 teachers.

According to the indicator, the UPV is the technical university with the highest number of places in the ranking, with 13, ahead of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (11) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (9).

Best alternative to the Madrid-Barcelona axis

Not surprisingly, the UPV is the 5th university in Spain with the highest number of places in the ranking above - after the Complutense (30), the Autònoma de Barcelona (22), the Universitat de Barcelona (19) and the Autónoma de Madrid (18) - and the best alternative to the Madrid-Barcelona axis, ahead of the University of Navarra (7th, with 12) and the University of Granada (10th, with 8).

National top three for a total of 10 degrees

Regarding results by degree, in addition to the above-mentioned top four, it is also the second best rated university for Biotechnology; the third in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Telecommunications Technology Engineering; the fourth in Building and Computer Engineering; and the fifth in Data Science.

More places in the ranking than all the other universities in the region combined

At the regional level, the UPV is the university in the Valencian Community with the most places in the ranking, surpassing the total of all the others, 9, distributed as follows: University of Alicante (5), University of Valencia (2), Jaume I University of Castellón (1) and Miguel Hernández University (1).

The results of this 25th edition of the ranking, therefore, once again endorse the teaching quality of the UPV, a quality recognised not only at the national level, but also by the main international indicators of university excellence: Shanghai, QS, and THE.
