Som y Serem
Vicente Julián García Pastor plants innovative monuments made from biodegradable materials in the Avinguda Tarongers - UPV - Camí de Vera falla
[ 16/03/2026 ]
The Avinguda de Tarongers – UPV – Camí de Vera falla, the only commission based on a university campus, is once again planting two monuments that embrace innovation and are made from biodegradable materials.
For the second consecutive year, they have placed their trust in the artist Vicente Julián García Pastor, who last year erected ¿Inteligència Art - I - Ficial? and Què és una falla?. For 2026, the slogans are Serem and Som, both made using 3D printing and biodegradable materials.
The children's monument, Serem, represents how childhood games and dreams evolve, with hard work and effort, into the aspiration to become a future generation of researchers and engineers to achieve technical and scientific advances with which to protect and support humanity and living beings in the face of challenges arising from climate change, pandemics, armed conflicts, and migratory movements.
Som, the large monument, continues the essence of the children's falla and captures the moment when those children who dreamed of pursuing research have achieved their goal. Now, their objective is to find ways to address the disasters caused on the planet by the misuse of science and technology.
The Avinguda de Tarongers – Universitat Politècnica de Valencia – Camí de Vera falla belongs to the Algirós sector and is a member of the Agrupació de Falles del Marítim. It was founded in 1999 and is currently represented by the falleras mayores, Laura García and Carmen Alonso, and the presidency: the children Patricio Pérez, Marian Martínez, and Juan S. Ortiz.
