Students from Europe, America, and Asia will enjoy the Fallas of Valencia as full members of the Falla del Poli
[ 13/03/2026 ]
Coming to study at the UPV from Bangladesh, China, Colombia, or Norway and having the opportunity to experience the Fallas festival in Valencia like a local is an opportunity that very few people would turn down. And it is an opportunity that, every year, the Avinguda de Tarongers – Universitat Politècnica de València – Camí de Vera committee offers to students from outside our borders.
This year, 15 nationalities make up the foreign delegation at the Falla del Poli. They come from Bangladesh, Italy, Belgium, Romania, Switzerland, England, Sweden, the USA, France, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Colombia, Ukraine, and China. Four men and eleven women with a common goal: to experience the Fallas in Valencia like the locals.
An experience that began in style, watching the mascletà from the balcony of Valencia City Hall. They were accompanied there by the top representatives of the Falla del Poli, Juan, Laura, Carmen, and Patricio; the rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, and the vice-rector for Faculty and Academic Planning, Juan Carlos Cano.
Upon their arrival, an official reception was held in the Crystal Hall of the City Council. The Councillor for Tourism, Innovation, Technology, Digital Agenda and Investment Attraction, Paula Llobet Vilarrasa, welcomed them, together with the Falleras Mayores of Valencia, Carmen Prades and Marta Mercader, and their courts of honour.
And finally, the most eagerly awaited moment: stepping out onto one of the town hall balconies to enjoy the show. Fortunately, the rain let up, and the León-based pyrotechnics company Pibierzo set off its mascletá, surprising the international students with its power.
Thus began their Fallas adventure. From now until 19 March, it is their turn to enjoy the festival and try to convey the passion of the Fallas to their countries of origin.
