The silent engine

They are the heart of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), vital in ensuring that the institution has been recognised for two decades as the best technological university in Spain and a national and international benchmark in multiple disciplines.

Every day, thousands of professors, researchers, administrative staff, technicians, and various service staff work behind the scenes with perseverance, skill and professionalism to keep the UPV running smoothly and give it the prestige and reputation that the university enjoys today.

For this reason, since May 2006, the UPV has awarded the XXV Years Medals annually to those who have reached twenty-five years of service to the institution, in a ceremony that also honours those who have dedicated their working lives to the UPV, the retired staff.

This time, 245 XXV Years Medals were awarded, and 87 retirees were recognised in a ceremony that took place in the auditorium of the Rectorate building on the Vera Campus (Valencia).

In a ceremony presided over by the current rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, Lourdes Emilia Aznar Mas, representing retired staff, José Luis Poza Luján, representing Academic and Research Staff (PDI), and Cristina Martí Barranco, representing the Technical, Management, Administration and Services Staff (PTGAS), gave voice to groups without whom this university would never have reached its current level.
