Amparo Baviera, Vice-Dean for Business Chairs, Employment and Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Business Administration and Management (FADE), expressed her satisfaction with the choice of the UPV as the venue for the event.
'We are very pleased that Fundación MAPFRE has entrusted the UPV with organising such an important event, both because of its significance and because of the importance of the people and organisations involved,' emphasised Baviera. She added that this collaboration is the result of 'an excellent relationship between Fundación MAPFRE and the Faculty of Business Administration and Management, consolidated over several years'.
The vice-dean also recalled the various joint actions being developed through this collaboration, such as student participation in the MAPFRE Business Game (BugaMAP) championship, training sessions led by the specialised foundation staff, and the applied projects being worked on in the Master's Degree in Social Media and Corporate Communication.
Improving people's quality of life
Daniel Restrepo Manrique, Director of the Social Action Area at Fundación MAPFRE, highlighted the commitment of all the award-winning organisations "to improving people's quality of life and promoting inclusion.' He also underlined the foundation's support 'for the most vulnerable people and the Valencian Community after the DANA, as well as for the groups that need it most.
Along the same lines, Lola Moya, Director of Social Funds at Fundación MAPFRE, explained the scope of the projects promoted by the organisation: 'The ACCEDEMOS grants, our apprentice workshop and the forthcoming call for applications for the Más Rural programme, within the framework of the European Social Fund, will enable us to implement new projects in València next year'.
Social Employment Project
The awards ceremony in València recognised Fundación MAPFRE's Social Employment Project. This initiative combines the Juntos Somos Capaces and ACCEDEMOS programmes, which aim to support the training and hiring of individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues, as well as to promote employment among disadvantaged groups and in rural areas.
The companies and entities that received awards were Grupo Nealis, Grupo Consum, Vicky Foods, FCC, Grupo Etra, Hundred, Emersal, Comunidad de Regantes de la Coma, with special mention going to Martínez Abad. This company benefited from the extraordinary call for Accedemos DANA grants offered by Fundación MAPFRE for the restoration of the productive fabric and the maintenance of employment in all municipalities affected by the DANA.
Special mention was also given to Fundación Síndrome de Down Castellón, Fundación Asindown and Asociación Auna Inclusión for their constant support of the Social Employment Project promoted by Fundación MAPFRE.
'It has been an honour for the UPV to host such a thoughtful and meaningful event, which recognises the efforts of organisations committed to social cohesion,' concluded Vice-Dean Amparo Baviera.
