A minute of silence

On Wednesday, 29 October, at 12:00 noon, the university community is invited to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the Dana

The Universitat Politècnica de València, as a public institution committed to Valencian society, wishes to express its respect and solidarity with the victims and their families, as well as with all the people and services that participated in the emergency and recovery efforts, in the aftermath of the DANA that hit on 29 October 2024.The resolution by Rector José Capilla declares 29 October 2025 a day of institutional mourning.

This tragic event left a deep mark on our society and remains in the collective memory as a symbol of pain, solidarity, and resilience.

Next Wednesday, 29 October, on the first anniversary of the dana that affected the Valencian Community, the Universitat Politècnica de València, as a sign of mourning and respect, invites the entire university community to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the dana and in recognition of the collective effort of those who collaborated in the response and recovery.

The meeting point on the Valencia campus will be next to the flags at the Rectorate building and the fountain. On the Alcoi campus, at Plaça Ferrandis i Carbonell, and on the Gandia campus, at the entrance to the Lecture Hall, Building A.

In addition, all festive activities will be suspended throughout the day, and the official flags fly at half-mast outside the three campuses.

The UPV also expresses its gratitude to the public institutions, security forces, emergency services, volunteers and citizens who showed their solidarity and commitment during and after that tragic weather event.
