No challenge is too big for them. 65 teams. 3,000 students. And a whole host of successes: UPV Design Factory. ‘Whatever challenge we face, with a good team, I know we will be able to overcome it.’ ‘UPV Design Factory has given us the ability to make a dream come true.’ And at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), they dream big. So big that they want to ‘make the UPV the first university in Europe to reach space.’ (Put a face to these words in this video)
Once again, the UPV Design Factory Fair has been the best showcase for this project, a pioneer among Spanish universities, which was launched in 2014. The fair brought together prototypes and information from 41 teams at the Ágora with a clear objective: to spark the curiosity of new students and attract new talent to ensure the next generation. They have achieved many successes this summer. (Formula Student)
There are teams for every taste, from every discipline, with very different and complementary profiles, because one of the fundamental hallmarks of the programme is its cross-curricular nature. Everything adds up and contributes.
The rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, opened the UPV Design Factory Fair and recalled that 'it remains a unique programme in the Spanish university landscape, which trains students differently, in values, technical skills, leadership and teamwork that would otherwise be very difficult for them to acquire'.
The project for the UPV Design Factory building is already underway. It will serve all the teams, stimulating synergies between them by sharing space.
The UPV Design Factory programme serves as a launch pad for initiatives exclusively developed by UPV students, promoting 'learning by doing' and enhancing cross-curricular competencies, as well as the mentor-student relationship. It also encourages and supports their participation in national and international university competitions.
And you, are you in? If you are no longer a student, you can collaborate by mentoring or sponsoring one of the UPV Design Factory groups.
