The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has partnered with Coursera, the world's largest online education platform, with 183 million users. With this alliance, the UPV expands its presence on the global digital education scene and consolidates its commitment to accessibility and academic excellence.
The UPV has an outstanding track record in the field of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Since 2014, it has been an active partner of edX, and previously formed part of the MiriadaX platform. In addition, in 2014, the UPV developed its own MOOC platform, upvx.es, offering a wide range of courses at the local and global levels.
With its participation in edX and upvx.es, the Universitat Politècnica de València is about to reach the figure of 5 million registrations, with a range of just over 150 courses. These figures show the great reception and impact of its online training offer. The most successful courses are Basic Spanish, with 1.5 million registrations, Excel (from introductory to advanced), Project Management, English B2 for Business and Introduction to Python. In addition, students can validate UPV MOOC certificates on edX for optional degree credits.
The partnership with Coursera is a strategic step for the UPV, which will now be able to reach an even broader and more diverse audience. The agreement will allow the university to extend the content of its courses to the 183 million people registered on this platform. It thus broadens the reach of its knowledge and experience in these courses.
For the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Silvia Terrasa Barrena, 'joining Coursera reflects our commitment to bringing education to every corner of the world. With the experience we have gained with edX and our own platform, we can offer an exceptional learning experience to the people who use this platform.'
This new phase reinforces the UPV's role as a pioneer in online education capable of adapting to new technologies. It thus offers new opportunities for flexible, high-quality learning.
