FSUPV12 is the new single-seater car of the Formula Student team at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The number 95 is in honour of Lightning McQueen. It has been unveiled in style at a gala held in the Nexus Building - UPV, in front of hundreds of people. This racing car represents the culmination of a year of intensive development and marks the beginning of a new season full of challenges, where the goal is clear: to surpass the performance of the FSUPV11 and consolidate its position on the podium of major European competitions.
This twelfth version incorporates technological advances that reflect the team's commitment to innovation. New features include active aerodynamics and a new, lighter chassis geometry.
The team, comprised of 30 students from eight different degrees and part of UPV's Design Factory programme, recently made history by becoming the first Spanish team to win the Formula SAE Michigan. It is one of the most demanding automotive engineering competitions at the international level. Now, they are heading to Europe with their sights set on the podium at Formula Student Austria, the legendary Red Bull Ring circuit, and Formula Student East, which takes place in Hungary.
The technical director of the Formula Student team from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Manuel Sampablo, has explained they have incorporated improvements into the new prototype, such as 'the redesign of the aerodynamic package and the implementation of a new, much more efficient single-cylinder engine, which provides more power when exiting corners’. Student in the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, he also explained that the team has redesigned the suspension, which 'will allow much more grip when cornering'.
Formula Student UPV
FSUPV is a project that brings together students who share a passion for motoring, technological innovation and teamwork. The goal is to design and manufacture a Formula SAE single-seater car. And to compete in Formula Student. The prototype at the Universitat Politècnica de València was presented in 2013.
Formula Student is a competition focusing not only on speed but also on innovations, efficiency, and project management. The teams have to submit detailed technical reports and give presentations to a panel of judges to explain and justify their designs.
Design Factory
UPV Design Factory is the Universitat Politècnica de València's launch pad programme, which was created in 2014 and allows students to train in cross-curricular competencies. It is a benchmark and pioneering programme in the university sector. It has established itself among students as the best option for 'learning by doing' during their time at the UPV. It is a real talent pool that, in the last four years, has seen an increase of almost 50% and brings together just over 3,000 students in around 70 teams from a wide range of disciplines.
