VIII Universitat de Tardor
Development and sustainability at the centre of debates among the five Valencian public universities for better human well-being

Autumn returned to the Universitat Politècnica de València in the middle of January. And it has done so thanks to the Universitat de Tardor, an event initially scheduled for last November but postponed due to the DANA (isolated high-altitude depression). This annual event, jointly organised by the five public universities of the Valencian Community, brings to the table the critical discussion on development and sustainability, aiming to continue the debate within classrooms.
This year's chosen theme was "Bridges Towards Global Equity: Sustainable Development and Human Well-being", with a program designed to become a meeting point for sharing experiences, knowledge, and best practices, thereby fostering cooperation and social justice.
Among the keynote speakers was ecofeminist activist Joana Bregolat I Campos, who addressed climate justice, and Dr María Jesús Muñoz-Torres, a professor at Universitat Jaume I, who spoke about sustainable food systems.
During the two-day event, held at the School of Aerospace Engineering and Industrial Design (ETSIADI), two roundtable discussions took place: the first on Thursday, titled "The Role of Innovation and Technology in Contributing to Global Equity", and the second on Friday, where graduates from the five organising universities discussed human well-being.
The event also featured dynamic workshops that facilitated more significant interaction among attendees.
For the Cooperation Center of UPV, which coordinated this year's Universitat de Tardor, hosting this event is very important for the university. As the director of the CCD, Llanos Gómez, explained, "Looking at the UPV, I am concerned that our future graduates, who will be making decisions that will affect third parties in the future, become more aware of global issues—issues that are also present in our territory."
