A single candidacy

José E. Capilla heads the only formalised candidacy in the elections for Rector, which will be held electronically on 12 February

[ 11/02/2025 ]

José E. Capilla will remain the Rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) for the next six years, as he leads the only candidacy registered during the designated nomination period (January 23-27). As a result, the current acting rector will extend his term until March 2031. Despite a single candidacy, the election will proceed as scheduled on February 12, following the official electoral process.

Elections on February 12

In cases where only one candidacy is presented, the electoral process follows its course as planned. As scheduled, the election day will occur on February 12, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The entire university community will have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote electronically.

Equally, the electoral campaign will proceed within the designated timeframe, from February 3 to 11. The only modification concerns the second-round vote, which will be suspended.

Following the established timeline, José E. Capilla will officially assume the position of Rector for a new term on March 1.
