Have you had a problem at the UPV and want to file a complaint with a body with capacity, confidentiality and independence? Go to the University Ombuds Office, the body that defends the rights of members of the university community and seeks solutions to conflicts that arise within the institution.

Ana Belén Anquela, the current ombudsperson, explains how the body works.

Who can request help from the University Ombuds Office?

‘Any member of the university community: PTGAS, teachers and students. Even if someone outside the UPV has some kind of conflict with a university procedure, we also deal with them’.

Can the Rector or any other member of the UPV condition the University Ombuds Office's decisions?

‘We are an independent body and are not subject to any mandate. We are answerable to the people who come to tell us about their problems, and obviously, we do not follow any kind of guideline’.

What can people go to the University Ombuds Office for?

‘Normally, people who come to the University Ombuds Office have a conflict. There are interpersonal ones, which are the most difficult to resolve, but other types of problems are easily solved with the UPV regulations, which are the majority. The interpersonal ones are more complex, and that is where the University Ombuds Office has a more important role of mediating so that the two parties can reach a consensual solution’.

How to contact the UPV University Ombuds Office?

1.- In person, in the 3F building on the Vera campus.
2.- By writing to defensoria@upv.es
3.- Through the electronic office
4.- By calling 96 387 70 45
5.- By submitting a letter to any UPV registry office
