February 12, elections
The UPV agrees to modify the election dates and sets February 12 as the date for the first round of voting to elect the Rector and structure's Directors
[ 20/11/2024 ]
The Governing Council of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) agreed during the 7th November extraordinary session to adjourn the electoral processes called and pending (twelve in total) modifying their respective calendars.
Of all of them, the most important is the one that affects the institution's Rector. This process and those for the management of structures will be held on 12 February 2025 in the first round and on 19 February 2025 in the second round.
These latest modifications are due to the effects caused by the DANA last October 29, which forced the public administrations to alter their ordinary procedures and concentrate their efforts on prioritising decisions to manage the consequences of the catastrophe. Furthermore, the resolution stresses that the electoral processes have the fundamental objective of guaranteeing the participation of the entire university community.
The Rector, Jose E. Capilla, has already directed his resignation letter to the Conselleria de Educación, Cultura, Universidades y Empleo.
When the decree of termination is published in the DOGV, the Rector will remain in office until the appointment of a new Rector, as stipulated in article 64.6 of the Decree 122/2024, of 24 September, of the Consell, which approves the Statutes of the Universitat Politècnica de València.

Likewise, the same timetable has been adopted for the electoral processes concerning the management of structures (school or faculty, departments and university research institutes).
In the case of other elections (structure councils, Doctoral School management committee or student representatives on The Governing Council, among others), it has been decided to look for alternative dates.
All the electoral process calendars can be consulted in the 'Elections UPV 2024' section of the General Secretariat's website.
