Improving coordination of volunteering

The School of Architecture launches a project to coordinate volunteer work for the DANA more effectively

[ 15/11/2024 ]

Responding to the organisational challenge of managing the flood of solidarity to help the victims of the DANA. This is the pilot project's aim that the School of Architecture (ETSA) of the UPV has set up in collaboration with Picanya Town Council. The aim is to improve the coordination of volunteer work in this municipality. According to the first conclusions (it started on 4 November), it could be replicated in other towns.

Fill in a form

The initiative is based on providing students and school staff with a form (forms.gle/jBPmav9BnmUTSTqZA) to register as volunteers. Based on this information, people are called to the Plaza de Benimarfull in Valencia at 8.00 AM, and brigades of 10 to 20 people are organised, led by teachers or administrative and service staff of the ETSA.

The City Council of Picanya supervises the procedure at all times. The registered people are included in a Whatsapp group to coordinate and inform in a centralised way. On the first day of operation, 120 registrations were made.

Through this tool, it is hoped to have control over the flow of volunteers and to have a record of the identity of the people who enter the homes and municipal buildings to collaborate in the cleaning tasks.

This action is preferably aimed at students and staff from the school, although family or friends may accompany them.
