Five bachelor's degrees and five master's degrees at the Universitat Politècnica de València have received re-accreditation from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), the North American agency that verifies that educational programmes meet the highest quality standards.
The ABET seal means a high professional prestige and an almost direct recognition of a degree in the United States, which offers greater job opportunities in this country.
The UPV degrees that have successfully renewed the outstanding quality seal are the Bachelor's Degrees in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Telecommunication Technologies and Services Engineering, and the Master's Degrees in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering.
The ABET seal guarantees the training of professionals with key skills for the immediate future.
In this sense, the Vice-Rectorate for Organization of Studies, Quality, Accreditation and Languages of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Marival Segarra, states that ‘the university community has worked hard to promote the development of the new cross-curricular competencies required by ABET, implementing a renewed approach in teaching and learning, which prioritises the development of skills such as critical thinking, innovation, collaboration and professional ethics.
'This effort has also included in some cases a curricular update of the curricula to align them with the new competencies required by ABET, thus ensuring that our students acquire the necessary skills to face future challenges’.
The Vice-Rector expressed her congratulations to all the academic staff, administration and services staff, students and management and technical teams who have participated in the process, which has taken more than a year; ‘We are very proud to receive this re-accreditation, which reaffirms our commitment to offer quality education’.
