Remarkable growth

The UPV shoots up its Master's degree programme with more than 14,800 applications for the new academic year

[ 03/09/2024 ]

The 2024-2025 academic year at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will start with record numbers of applications for places on its 88 university master's degrees -both qualifying and non-qualifying-. This is clear from the results of pre-registration phases 1 and 2, which have already been completed and which were reported at the last Governing Council of the academic year, held on Thursday, 25 July.

42% increase in applications

At the end of these first phases, a total of 14,863 applications had been received, compared to 10,478 at this time last year, which means an increase in overall demand of 4,385 applications -almost 42% more- and consolidates a clear preference among students for the UPV offer, already detected in the previous academic year.

In 2023-2024, the increase in enrolment requests already exceeded 25% of the demand recorded a year earlier. This makes three consecutive years of outstanding growth, which has doubled the figure in this brief period (220%):

2023-2024

In addition to this achievement, 80.4% of the total number of applications for qualifying Master's degrees, those required to practise a specific profession according to the law, were first preference, compared to 49.4% of the total number of applications for the rest of the degrees.

Management, the area with the most significant increase in demand

Compared to the academic year 2023-2024, there is an increase in demand for Master's degrees in all

fields. Management stands out in particular, followed by Architecture, Civil and Building Engineering, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering, and Information and Communications Technologies.

As the Vice-Rector for Students and Entrepreneurship, Alberto Conejero, explained, ‘the decision to incorporate an additional pre-registration phase and bring forward the timetable for this process has had a very positive effect on the results of pre-registration for university master's degrees’.

200 years of industrial studies in Alcoy

The Governing Council of the 2023-2024 academic year approved the request to celebrate 200 years of industrial studies in Alcoy. Its Scientific and Artistic Establishment, created in October 1828, is considered an Event of Exceptional Public Interest, as well as for the Museum of Industrial Heritage and History of the Alcoy Campus to become an official museum of the Valencian Community.
