The economist Mariana Mazzucato will be awarded Doctor "Honoris Causa" on Wednesday, 21 June, in the Paraninfo of the UPV.

The economist Mariana Mazzucato will be invested as doctor honoris causa in the solemn closing ceremony of the Academic Year on Wednesday, 21 June, at noon. The sponsors of the director and founder of the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose at University College London will be Jordi Peris Blanes and José Mª García Álvarez-Coque. Peris Blanes is a researcher at the INGENIO Research Institute and professor in the Department of Engineering Projects, and García Álvarez-Coque is a professor in the Department of Economics and Social Sciences and a researcher in the International Economics and Development Research Group at the UPV.
Has inspired València Climate Mission 2030
The Governing Council approved his appointment on 2 February this year. The nomination highlighted that his work has challenged orthodox thinking on the role of the state and the private sector in driving innovation and on how economic value is created, measured and shared. Her postulates have guided public policy design through missions as a tool to solve the significant challenges facing humanity.
Her approach has conceptually inspired public innovation programmes worldwide, such as València Climate Mission 2030, in which Universitat Politècnica de València participates in a relevant way.
The 30 best PhD Theses will be awarded during the closing ceremony, and their authors will be conferred, PhD Doctors. Juan Enrique Vázquez Lozano will speak on behalf of the award winners.
