Our former student Dr. Angélica Anglés Estellés has been awarded as Outstanding Alumni UPV 2025. Congratulations on this well-deserved award and thank you for being a constant source of inspiration.
Dr. Angélica Anglés holds a degree in Geodesy and Cartography Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Two Masters in Planetary Sciences and Astrophysics from Imperial College London and University College London. Her PhD at the University of Hong Kong in the area of Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences dealt with the possibility of life on Mars and the selection and future return of Martian samples, with field work studying the geological forms of the Qaidam Basin of Tibet as an analogue of Mars. She was part of the group that selected at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) the landing site for the Mars 2020 probe, and is one of five Analogue Astronauts on the first UK Analogue Space Mission. She is a senior researcher at the Icelandic Space Agency; there she has led expeditions in Mars analog environments. She is a researcher at the Macau Space Science Center (China) and the European Space Agency.
