About us
The CEI of the UPV was constituted in 2006 and its main tasks are:
Guarantee
Compliance with the applicable regulations in the fields of health, environmental protection and research with humans or animals
Raise awareness
On the need to bridge the gap between science and technology and human values. Educating to incorporate an ethical perspective to research activity.
Watch
For compliance with good research and experimentation practices in relation to the fundamental rights of people, respect for animals in research and the defense and protection of the environment.
Other IRB functions
- To issue reports on research projects or work in the following areas: on human beings, use of personal data or biological samples of human origin, with genetically modified organisms (microorganisms, plants or animals) as well as with pathogenic biological agents, and animal experimentation.
- Ensure compliance with good research and experimental practices.
- To prepare reports for the upv’s governing bodies on ethical issues that may arise from R&D&I activities.
- To promote debate in the university community and among the public on research ethics and bioethics issues of a general nature, as well as training on these topics.
- To ensure the observance and compliance with the precepts included in the UPV’s Scientific Integrity and Good Research Practices Policy.
- Act as an arbitration body in the event of uncertainties or conflicts that may arise in relation to the integrity of the research.
- Ensure proper dissemination of laws, regulations and reports published on research ethics.
